Steps to Certification

In order to become certified all students must meet the following eligibility requirements to join an alternative certification program.

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree from an accredited university

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 from an accredited 4 year institution

  • All majors and areas of study are eligible

  • Foreign degrees accepted. (Must take TOEFL test)

No need to take additional college/university classes for those meeting GPA and content hour requirements.

Areas of Certification

We offer certification in many subject areas. However, there are many factors to consider before choosing. During the interview process, we advise you of the areas you are eligible for and the subject area that gives you the best chance of being hired.

After choosing your certification area(s), you will need to immediately sign up for the corresponding state content test (TExES or ExCET).

We will advise you of the requirements mandated by law and assist you with coursework and classroom instruction that will help you in preparing for the exams that will enable you to become a certified teacher in the State of Texas.

Letter of Acceptance

School districts require a “letter of acceptance” indicating your eligibility to teach. We provide that letter once you have met program requirements. We also provide eligible candidates with a “Statement of Eligibility” required by the school districts for employment.
